Surfing the Net (a Sunday I was bored), I came across this video on e-learning. I found it really interesting, even though I don’t like much the Spanish accent, because I think it makes reference to many things we have been working with. This is the video:
Generally speaking, it describes briefly how is it that a person learns and how the implementation of the Information and Communication Technologies has changed this process. That is why, it will make reference to the use of the internet to say that now a days we can have lessons in a virtual classroom, for instance, and therefore, we, as learners and teachers, can access to the information anywhere, anytime… and this would be e-learning.
While trying to learn more about those possibilities we have to deliver and attend lessons online, I found that there are many ways to do it. We already know Moodle and Edmodo, but there are other platforms such as WizIQ, which is a paid platform, of course, with a lot more tools to work with than the ones that are for free. The interesting thing, however, is that you can try it for 30 days without paying so, at least, you could enjoy having a month of online lessons to work on a project… I don’t know I’m just thinking and writing at the same time. And about learning and teaching I found out this a web page called Verbalplanet.com in wich you can offer your knowledge of any language you know, and students could hire you and be taught through Skype! Cool, isn’t it?
I also found many articles and videos about the use of the internet and other forms of technology in order to teach something.
For example:
All these being shared, I have to tell you something else. I downloaded the latest version of MSN, and with it I chose to install a software called Windows Live Writer. It allows you to write posts and publish them from it, without being working in Blogspot. The advantage is that you have many more format options and the possibility of inserting maps, as I did, photo albums, and tables, among other things, and also you can add complements, one of them is: Insert File(S), which I think I will be trying!
Have a look at it, maybe you also find it useful. :)
